Information You Send Directly
Text entered into a search form, such as a name, phone number, or address, is sent to the third-party provider that operates the result service. Petaluma Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those queries on its own servers. If you contact the operator, the mailbox receives the details included in the message and uses them to respond.
Routine Technical Data
Hosting systems may keep ordinary server logs, including an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. The information is reviewed in aggregate for site health and general page-use measurement. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where enabled, advertising measurement.
How That Information Is Used
Technical information supports operation, troubleshooting, traffic counts, and page improvements. The service does not sell visitor lists or create individual profiles from ordinary visits.
Links Beyond This Reference
Pages link to Sonoma County and California records portals, library collections, archives, and sponsored search tools. A destination's own privacy policy controls anything submitted there. That includes the third-party service behind the search boxes.
Who May Process the Data
Hosting and technical vendors may process server logs while supporting the service. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires it and is not otherwise shared as a visitor list.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. There are no accounts, passwords, or visitor profiles on this service for an attacker to access.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information, use the Contact page so the limited material can be reviewed and deleted where applicable.
California Data Rights
California's Consumer Privacy Act guidance, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, describes rights under Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections. Depending on the circumstances, a California resident may have rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit sensitive-information use, and avoid discrimination for exercising a right. Because this service keeps very little, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and relevant logs.
Use the Contact page for a request. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 and following, governs records held by public agencies, not data held by this private reference. Deeds, court records, assessment records, and other government files must be addressed to their custodian. California's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform may apply to registered data brokers, but it does not erase a source record held by a government office.
Changes to This Policy
An updated policy will be posted on this page. Continuing to use the service after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated wording.
